Paukstadt, U. & Paukstadt, L. H. (2001): Beitrag zum taxonomischen Status einiger Taxa der Gattung Cricula Walker, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae). - Galathea - Berichte des Kreises Nürnberger Entomologen eV (Nürnberg), Suppl. 10: pp. 53-55.

Summary: Contribution on the status of some populations of the genus Cricula Walker, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae). - In this contribution the status of some populations of the genus Cricula Walker, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) is discussed. Cricula cameronensis U. Paukstadt & L. H. Paukstadt, 1998, rev. stat. is elevated to fully species rank. C. cameronensis is only known from the Cameron Highlands, Peninsular Malaysia thus far. The status of Cricula trifenestrata tenggarensis U. Paukstadt, L. H. Paukstadt & Suhardjono, 1998 is confirmed. The subspecies tenggarensis inhabits the eastern and western Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia. The larvae of C. trifenestrata tenggarensis were observed feeding on avocado (Persea sp.) on the island of Sumbawa, western Lesser Sunda Islands for the first time, cf. Paukstadt & Paukstadt 2002: Entomologische Zeitschrift (Stuttgart), 112 (8): pp. 240-247 (col.-fig. of mature larva). The coloration of the hair bases of the mature larva was found distinct from those of C. trifenestrata javana Watson, 1913 from Bali, Java, and Sumatra. A description of the preimaginal instars of C. trifenestrata tenggarensis is in preparation. The westernmost range of C. trifenestrata tenggarensis obviously includes the island of Sumbawa. Since the preimaginal instars of the populations from Lombok remain unknown, its status therefore remains not determinable thus far.
