Paukstadt, U. & Paukstadt, L. H. (1991): Eine ungewöhnliche Monstrosität bei Attacus atlas Linnaeus 1758 aus thailändischen Populationen (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae). - Entomologische Zeitschrift (Essen), 101 (8): pp. 151-152; 1 fig.

Summary: An aberrant male adult of Attacus atlas (Linnaeus, 1758) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) was collected in Chiang Mai, Thailand by Sabine Steinke and herewith described and figured. The male adult exhibits tailed hindwings, which are among the Attacini only in male adults of the genus Coscinocera present. The forewing of the aberrant specimen shows a strongly produced apex. The aberration was most likely caused by mechanical damages of the pupal wing sheath or during hatching from its cocoon.
